C. Bases
Base morpheme is the part of word that have a principal
meaning.
Requirement:
- It can occur as an immediate constituent of a word whose only other immediate constituent is a prefix and suffix. Example: react, active, fertilize and other.
- It is an allmorph of a morpheme which has another allomorph that is a free form. Example: depth (deep), wolves (wolf).
- It is a borrowing from another language in which it is a free form or a base. Example: biometrics, phraseology.
D. Difficulties
in Morphemic Analysis
1. The
first difficulty is that you have your own individual stock of morphemes just as you
have limited vocabulary or morphemic as just your
own.
2. The
second difficulty
is person may knowa given
about a mopheme but the do not know about the other various aof that morpheme. Example: (nose,
noseful, nosey
