Morphemes

       A.    Definition of Morpheme
               Morphemes is study about structure of words. There are three criterias of morpheme.

  1. It is a word or a part of word that has a meaning.
  2. It cannot divided into a smaller meaningful part without violation of it’s meaning or without meaningless remainders.
  3. It recurs in differing verbal environments with a relatively stable meaning.




 B.    Free and Bound morpheme
               There are two kinds of morpheme, free and bound. A free can stand alone with it’s meaning, for example: Eat, Love, Book, Promise, etc. Bound morpheme is unlike Free. Bound is a mopheme that can not stand alone with Its meaning. So, It needs helping from another morpheme.
 Example:
·         Re׀play   ( Re=Bound, Play=Free)
·         Un| Happy (Un=Bound, Happy= Free)
